D.C. - here we come!

Oh I am so excited! Only two and a half weeks til we leave for Washington, D.C.! We are so excited!!!!!!! Neither one of us have ever been. I just can't wait for all of the touristy photos!!! Today I did a little research on how to get around. I've definitely decided on the open top bus tour. We did one like that in NYC and it was awesome! I absolutely cannot wait! It's going to be so much fun and hopefully not too hot yet!
So, since we've never been, we'll take all of the advice you've got! We're definitely making a stop in Georgetown and definitely the Holocaust museum and natural history museum. I know there's way more than we can fit into our little stay there, but we'll cram as much as possible!
I don't have a whole lot to post today....just wanted to share my excitement!

Catch Up

What a weekend! I'm so glad I have today off for Memorial Day! This past week has been so busy! Well Thursday night was Maddie's 8th grade formal. There's a picture of her and her best friend(maddie's on the right). They looked beautiful! Then Friday morning we went to her school for her awards ceremony - she got a social studies award (which especially made me proud since I'm in school to be a social studies teacher) and she had no idea she was getting it! THEN Friday night, I helped chaperone her end of school party that they had at their house. Looks like they had a lot of fun.
It was really funny at her awards ceremony - I started crying like one of the parents b/c she is growing up and going to high school! Chris was like "Pull yourself together!" It was so funny! I guess it just brought back memories for me and there is just so much she's about to be exposed to. So many more important decisions to make and it worries me. I just want her to make the right decisions.
Anyway, I got some scrapbooking finished last night! I finally finished a trip from 2005. I'm slowly getting caught up! Maybe I'll do Christmas for the last 5 years today!!! :) I was hoping to paint my "asparagus" wall, but that doesn't look like it's in the near future!
Tonight we're going to a cookout that will be loads of fun. I love hanging out with our friends!
Well that's all for now. Happy Memorial Day!

Who Knew?

Who knew that I would still be so incredibly busy now that school is finished? We litteraly have something going on every single night. Now don't get me wrong - I highly enjoy all that we have planned! I love hanging out with friends and such. There's nothing better! I'm really excited about tonight. On Tuesdays a few ladies from the church go walking. I'm finally joining in tonight! Yippee! And the guys will be playing softball so it should be much fun. I'm even more excited about having dinner with the Salad Master tomorrow night! Yes, you heard right. It should be rather interesting, so I will definitely post about it Thursday!
Speaking of Thursday.....it's Maddie's 8th Grade Formal! Oh my, she's growing up so fast. Her dress is GORGEOUS! No worries....I'm going over there Thursday night before she leaves to take lots of pictures of her all dressed up. I can't believe she starts high school in the fall. When I first came into the picture she was a sweet little 9 year old. Now she's 14!!!! And of course she's a diva!
Let's see, what else do we have going on? Oh yes, I finally scrapbooked my New York trip from 2007! I am quite behind. I still have stuff from 2004 that needs to be scrapbooked. The sad thing is that I have around 3200 pictures on my computer that need to be printed and scrapped. BUT, I made a deal with myself that no new pics could be printed until I finished what I already have. Lots of pressure!
This weekend was fun....I saw 2 movies! In the theater! This is huge! Friday night was ladies night and we saw Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. So good! And Matthew McConaughey is so delicious to look at! Then Saturday Chris and I saw Angels and Demons - the sequel to the Di Vinci Code. Very good movie. But sad news for Sunday. I was very sick - literally did nothing all day. I think it was because we have been eating healthier and Saturday I had BBQ, popcorn and pizza. Ick! So today I have had a ton of fruit and good things! Alright, now that I have rambled on, I've got to go get some things done.
Happy Tuesday!

Time for This Is:

"This Is" is back! Yay! So this week's theme is "This is what I collect." You can check out the home for This Is by clicking here!

So I have a lot of things that I like to collect. One of my favorite things are the Willow Tree Angels. I started collecting these several years ago with my mom. My mom always collected angels and when these came out, we were instantly hooked! I LOVE them! There is one for everything! When my mom passed away, I got her collection as well as mine. I keep them all in a curio display cabinet - but I haven't unpacked that yet. So here's a picture of some of them:

I also collect crosses. I'm obsessed with them! Maybe it's because of the constant reminder of what Jesus did for me there. Maybe it's just because they're beautiful. Whatever the reason, I buy them all the time! I really have to convince myself to stop buying them because I'm running out of wall space and beginning to look like a freak. I'm not a freak....I just love them! Anyway, here are a couple pictures of them:

What do you collect?

A New Week

Sorry for my last post....I know it was a bit of a downer. I just had a really tough week last week. BUT, today is Monday, a new day, a new week. This weekend was pretty crazy. Saturday I shot a birthday party in Fairburn. The little girl, Jaya, was soooo cute

Yesterday, being Mother's Day was really tough. But I survived. I went to bed at 8:30 last night!!! How old am I? :) I stayed home today to try and recuperate.
The wedding I'm shooting is less than a month away! So, for the next few weeks I'm trying to get to know my camera as much as possible!
More exciting news....we're going to Washington, DC in 31 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited. Neither one of us have ever been and things worked out so the majority of the trip is free...including lodging! Yes! I absolutely cannot wait!

Then, in July, we are heading to the beach. Chris and I have never had a planned vacation on our own to the beach. I guess that will be our 5 year anniversary present! It's going to be awesome!

In a couple weeks me and Heather are heading to Archiver's for a scrapbook night and boy do I need one! I am so far behind. YAY!!!!!!
Well I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

This Day 3 Years Ago

This day, May 5, 2006 was a horrible day. It was the day of the viewing at the funderal home for my mom. It was the day before we burried her. 48 years old. Too young.
I was 22 at the time....far too young to be without a mother.

This weekend was difficult. May 1st was the day she died. May 3rd the day I found her dead in her apartment from a heart attack in her sleep. May 4th made arrangements at the funeral home. May 5th the viewing. May 6th the funeral.

It's been 3 years and I still remember every detail. When I think about the events of the day I found her....I still feel those exact emotions. I can still feel every muscle in my body fail when they told me she was "sleeping". I can still feel the blood rush from my head when I saw them bring her out on the stretcher....in a body bag. I can still remember the blood curdling scream of my aunt and grandmother when I called and shared the news. I remember every phone call I made and what I said in each. I still can feel the last hug we shared. The last word we spoke..."I Love You".

And each year....Mother's Day sucks! I hate it. I hate all the commercials about celebrating how great moms are because I no longer have one. I am eternally broken. There is no putty or glue that can ever put me back together again. On May 1, 2006, part of me died. There is no remedy to bring it back to life. I have really tried to focus on the wonderful memories this year. But those wonderful memories only assist with the reality that there will be no more wonderful memories made with her. What is in my memory is all that I have left. What if I forget? They say you never do, but what if I do?

So needless to say, I'm having a crappy week. I miss my mommy.

A Fabulous Day

My friends, this is a glorious day!
Why you ask?
Let me share:
School is FINISHED!
We got CABLE today!
We got INTERNET today!

I have a life again! I got home at 6:00 today!!! How exciting! AND I have watched some of my favorite tv shows!

See I got really angry at Comcast about two and a half years ago and cancelled my service. Since then, we haven't had cable. Well we finally broke down and they came out and hooked us up today. We are part of civilization again!!!!!
So again i say, it's a GLORIOUS day!

Chris and I watched the BEST movie last night - Slumdog Millionaire. I highly recommend it! So good.

Hmm.....what else has been going on? Not too much really.

You know what else is exciting?
I can get back to my old blog stalking self!!!
