Random

Happy Wednesday! I have just a bunch of random thoughts so I though I would share!
So this weekend our church had it's first ever Fall Festival! Chris has been planning this for months with our good buddies Todd and Lyndsay and I am so pleased to say it was a hit! We had a TON of people on our campus! It was amazing! There was a car show, live music, sumo suits, joust, 22 foot slide, and jumpies. Oh and let's not forget free food! In fact, everything was free!!! We were absolutely exhausted and I ended up with the mother of all migraine headaches that put me in the bed at 7:30pm on a Saturday night!!! But all in all it was fabulous! I have some really fun pics to post - I'll do that tonight when I get home.

Can I just say how much I absolutely love this time of year!!! AND the beautiful colors of the trees! Oh my! This Saturday, my aunt, grandmother and I are heading to the mountains for some beautiful fall scenery!!! I can't wait! It's a little thing we started last year and I think it'll be on the calendars for years to come. I believe we're heading to North Carolina this year! It will be beautiful....and of course I'll have a million pics to share!

Can you believe that THIS weekend is the beginning of NOVEMBER!
NOVEMBER people!!!
Where has 2009 gone?
That means that Christmas is officially less than 2 months away!
WHAT?

HOWEVER, Christmas time is my ABSOLUTE most favorite time of year! I just get so excited...not exactly sure the reason. I don't have kids, I don't get much....I think I just love the spirit of the holiday and of course all of the amazing DECORATIONS!

So sorry for the use of all caps. I'm just slightly excited and not sure how to express it! **big smiles**

Anyway, happy Wednesday blog lovers!

What I Learned This Week

Oh, I learned so much this week/month/year/life.

I learned that people let you down.
Those people who shouldn't let you down, definitely DO.

I learned that it is very hard to offer forgiveness when the above mentioned people do not even realize how much they let you down.
Nor do they care.

I learned that I don't do well with "let downs".

I learned that the places you should be able to go to for rest/peace do not offer it.

I learned that life is full of learning experiences.

What I Learned This Week

Hey gang! It's time for the weekly carnival hosted by Jo-Lynne.
This week's lesson learned is a bit more serious.
A little more...umm...spiritual I guess.
This week, I learned that I AM NOT IN CONTROL.
Huge problem for me.
See, I am a planner. I have always "thought" I was ok with following God's plan for my life and not my own.
That is until this week.
See, up until this point, I have always still been able to have a little control over everything. But like I said, that was up until this point.
God is laughing at me.
He thinks making me crazy is funny. :)
Currently, I have absolute no control over my life.
I seriously could have a total panic attack at any moment.
See, I have trust issues. More like trust of security issues.
And this lesson....well that means I have to trust.
And let go.

Letting go....sounds so freeing.
And it probably is. But for me, it is hard.
I have always let go portions of me....but God wants ALL of me.
Hmmm.....really.....ALL of me.

So at the moment, I know:
*I am powerless
*God is working, He's up to something big (but I have no idea what)
*I have to let go - "just let it happen" as Chris would say.

So here's to just letting it happen!

A New Project

Happy Monday Bloggers! Wow, I can't believe the weekend has come and gone already! For the most part it was a good/busy weekend. Friday we had dinner with some friends and an evening of watching Pawn Stars! Saturday I hung out with Leslie and her mom for a mani, lunch and the Mistletoe Market! Oh yes, Christmas is drawing near! It is my absolute most favorite time of year!!! I would put up a tree now if Chris would let me!!! The agreement is the weekend after Thanksgiving....just a little over a month! Then Chris and I went to his little brother's football game Saturday night. It was freezing!!! But they won, so it was worth it!

Ok, so I'm totally motivated (this week) about a new project. Heather has inspired me. Her inspiration comes from here.

Now unfortunately, my schedule doesn't allow for me to document every day...nor is it interesting enough to do so. HOWEVER, my anniversary with the hubs is coming up next month.
5 years!
So, what better a time to document the week of our anniversary?!?!?
I'm super excited about it!
I think I'll plan something for every day that week (I just decided to do this)!
You know, 5 is kind of a staple number for us (I just realized while writing this).
He told me he loved me on our 5th date.
We had a 5 month engagement.
Married 5 years.
So yes, a scrapbook of anniversary week is indeed what will happen!
I have less than a month to plan that week.
Any ideas?

My First Date

So over at Giving Up on Perfect, Mary wants to know about first dates!
Mine was rather....um....interesting.
Yes, that's a good word, interesting.
Good ol' Andy Roach. I still wonder how he's doing. He was my 8th grade boyfriend. I think we broke up and got back together a total of 10 times before he wouldn't take me back anymore!
Heartbreak.
Ok, back to our first date.
We became an item the last day of school of 7th grade. That weekend, my best friend, her boy friend, me and Andy took a double date to the movies to see Jurasic Park: The Lost World. I will never ever forget it.
So it was awkward from the beginning.
We started out sitting up front. Michael started tickling Hayley and then Andy started tickling me. They took their shoes off, Andy had us take ours off. Then we moved to the back of the theater.
This can't be good.
So then there was a kissing scene in the movie.
Cue Michael and Hayley for a kiss.
Yep, you guessed it...Andy was coming in for the steal. I knew it was happening. So I covered my mouth.
He ripped my hand away, I turned my head and got a big sloppy drooly kiss on the cheek!!!
I remember asking "What are you doing??"
His reply "I want to kiss you. I was trying to kiss you."
So I put my hand back over my mouth.
There was no stopping him. He did it again, only this time hitting my mouth. I refused to open my mouth. So what happened?
His braces cut my lip open and I started bleeding.
I broke up with him the next day.
But like I said, we got back together another 9 or so times. AND no more awful moments like that!
However I must say, this is one of my favorite memories from middle school!

Happy Friday to all!

Who Knew?

Hello blogland! This week has been quite a week so far!
However, I think I have joined a cult.
Yep.
The cult of wheat grass.
Ok, not really a cult, but this stuff has some crazy good benefits.
Did you know that a 1oz serving of wheat grass juice equals 2.5 pounds of green veggies???
I don't eat veggies. In fact, I don't think over 26 years, I've had a combined total of 2.5 pounds of veggies!
Now my first experience with wheat grass was Tuesday in a drink called Supergreen by Arden's Garden. It really wasn't bad.
So then I got a little over ambituous last night and bought straight wheat grass powder to make my own.
Horrible.
It smells.
It's icky.
Just not good to taste but apparently is so good for you!
Maybe I'll just have to get over the taste....and the look.
Check out these sights for more info on it:

And that is my helpful tip to society today.
Happy Thursday!

What I Learned This Week

Good Monday morning! Well let me just say this was quite the interesting weekend!
Do you ever have those moments when something happens and the first thing you think of is how blog worthy it is?
Defintely had a moment like that on Saturday.
The bad part: I didn't take pictures of it! But in my defense, it was safer for everyone that I was focused on what was happening instead of taking pictures.
Curious yet?
Ok, well Jo-Lynne over at Musings of a Housewife has this weekly deal of "What I Learned This Week."

And I normally have a little trouble coming up with something to post for this. Not this week!

Well we moved about a month ago and the day of move-in we bought a new stove. We haven't had a refigerator until about the last week, so I haven't cooked on the stove yet. So Saturday after doing a little housework, Chris decides he wants to make a frozen pizza and goes to pre-heat the oven. Just a few minutes later I walk into the kitchen and the oven is on fire!!! Flames and smoke and all!!!
Apparently, when one buys a new stove, one should take the packaging out of the oven!!!
Now Chris being the person he is, he opens the oven and just stares at it for a minute. So of course I'm screaming and while we are trying to get the fire out we are arguing over who's fault it was! So typical of us.
My argument was that since he bought the stove and set it up he should have cleaned it out. Also, he should have looked before heating the oven.
His argument was that he "swore" I said the stove was ready to go and I had done all that. That conversation never happened! :)

Anyway, we managed to get the fire put out and then I spent the next hour and a half scraping the plastic wax off of the bottom of the oven. Exciting.
After all of that, Chris still wanted his pizza. So I let the oven heat for a while - hoping to burn off anything I had missed. And then, as I'm putting the pizza in, I burn myself pretty bad. I hit the top of the oven - so my hand and arm have burn lines. Nice.

So needless to say I learned quite a lot this weekend alone.

Happy Monday!

Hey Gang!

Ok, so I'm a loser for not getting house pics up yet. I'm really trying! You would not believe the ridiculous drama the internet has created and it makes me mad to think about so I'm not even going to go there. Just know I am diligently working on getting internet that works at our house! And then there's the issue of having the rooms put together so I can post a before and after picture of it! Right now the only complete room is the dining room.
In other exciting news - we got a fridge! Now I can finally have a home cooked meal. However that will not happen tonight.
Or tomorrow.
Here's to Thursday! But sadly, I will be home alone for dinner on Thursday and Friday, so maybe I'll make a real meal Saturday! We'll see.

Just know that I haven't forgotten about blog land and I will be back with more interesting posts soon!!!
