Here In The Real World

Well friends, it's back to the real world. Vacation was officially over on Sunday.
But it was soooo good.
Like seriously wonderful to just be able to do whatever, whenever.
But all good things must come to an end.
Here are just a few photos from the days we did nothing.
I took these all with my phone - for some reason, I felt no reason to break out the big-daddy camera on this trip.

As you can see, hub's beard is out of control! Ick!

Shopping Craze!

There's something about being on vacation that gives me the illusion that I have lots of money to spend. Just to clarify...I don't. However, the outlet malls down the street from our resort completely took control over me!

So on this particular day, we started out with a yummy to our tummy breakfast at a place called Another Broken Egg.

I had the most delicious chocolate milk ever in the universe!

Let's take a closer look at that.....do you see that? Whipped cream on chocolate milk!!!!

After that indulgence, we headed to the stores! As you know I have a weakness for all things teal. Needless to say, when I saw these, they were a must have! Possibly the highest heel I've ever owned but I love them!

Chris had a little fun at Eddie Bauer. He said this one made him feel like a blueberry. I got a couple of things here too...

All that shopping worked up quite the appetite, so off to Panera it was! I ha a French onion soup bowl. SO good. And here I am exhibiting Eating habits o a hyena while attacking my bread bowl.

This day was only the beginning of my uncontrollable urge to swipe my plastic!

You Never Know Everything

the hubs and I are on vacation right now. I'm up early staring out the window looking at the beautiful ocean (and blogging) while my prince charming is snoozing. Yesterday was our official first day of vacay. I think I mentioned earlier that this is our first adult real vacay in the 7 years we've been together so we're enjoying ourselves immensely.

We spent almost the entire drive down here brainstorming for my photo business and getting super excited about that. Lots of changes in the works...name change, logo, biz plan, services, etc....
Needless to say...we're pumped!

One thing that caught me by surprise yesterday (and I instantly knew I would blog about) is how much we are still learning about one another. Just when you think you know someone inside and out, something brand new pops up.

Last night we took a walk on the beach. Well actually we didn't make it very far. You see we are here at the beach in the "off" season. Therefore a lot of things are closed or have odd hours.

*sidenote: I grew up coming to the beach and walking in the dark on the sand. Chris did not. And therefore crabs are a real problem.

So we get down to the beach and it's dark. Duh - it's night time. Somewhere in hubby's sweet little head he imagined the beach to be fully lit. Umm no.
I did manage to buy flashlights so we took those with us - I mean after all, I knew we would need to shine the crabs away. The flashlight was his security----and I took it and ran! Bahahaha! I'm evil. He freaked. And so we left the beach!

Ok that story isn't he point to anything but it was too good not to share.

But through all of that we got into this discussion of what "relaxing" or "vacation" means to us. He wanted to sit and watch the beach at night - I wanted to walk it. He wanted to swim in the pool at night - I wanted to curl up and read. We're just on very different ends of the spectrum. It's funny to learn these type things 7 years in to it....but I guess since we've never really vacationed together this is all new to us. Every trip we've ever taken has had a ton of stuff crammed into just a couple of days, so being here with no itinerary is quite the new territory.

Today's plan is to hang at the beach all day....we'll see how that goes.

Me - a runner?

Well to answer my title, no I'm not a runner.....yet.
However, my boo Ashby and I decided it would be awesome for our non-running selves to register to run a 5k. Now, we can walk if necessary, but the thing is....I've walked plenty of 5ks. I need to run one - or at least part of one.
Race day is Thanksgiving morning.
I'm super excited for it. It's very motivating.
So motivating in fact that I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks and I'm on vacay next week.
Yep, looks like I'm gonna be in superb shape for a run!

Soooo....Ash and I have created a contract - and yes we have signed it.
It says that we should basically be able to lose another 15-20 pounds by T-Day.
And if we don't.......
Well then a photo of ourself in a bathing suit becomes our facebook profile pic for one week.
That my friends is the ultimate most horrible thing that could happen for me.
I hyperventilate just putting my bathing suit on in front of my hubby or close friends.
To put that out there on the world wide web, well that's just not an option.
NOT an option.
So my big ol' rear has to get in gear asap!

Now I feel the need to clarify that my schedule has been ridiculous for the last 3 weeks and the gym just hasn't been an option. The good news is that I've maintained my 30 pound loss and haven't regained anything. Praise Jesus!
So at least I'm not exactly behind.

I really want to lose the 20 pounds by T-day because that would give me a 50 pound loss for the year so far! Woot woot!

And if you remember, I have severe anxiety when I go see my dad and that side of the fam about my weight, so it would do wonders for me to be able to go out there without that weight on my shoulders, literally.

Well that's the weight update as it stands for now. I'll definitely keep you posted as the running training begins....I'm a little bit scared!

Sinfully Delish!

Dear friends - I bring you.....Sin Dip!
Oh my word, it's so flipping delicious in a very sinful way.
I found this recipe on none other than pinterest - pinned to this website.
Which, by, the way, are you following me there? Am I following you?

Ok, ok, sorry....back to sinning.
So I made this a couple weeks ago for a football party and it was a hit! Not a drop left!
Dying to know what's in it?

Here ya go:

16oz sour cream

8oz cream cheese, softened
2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup chopped ham (I hate ham, so I used bacon instead. YUM!)
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce (I threw in more like 1/2 tsp)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
French bread loaf

In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except French bread; stirring until well blended.

Cut a thin slice from top of bread loaf; set slice aside. Using a gentle sawing motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of the loaf, 1/2 inch from the edge, to cut out center of bread. Lift out center of loaf. Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip. Wrap loaf with foil.

Bake dip at 350° degrees for 1 hour. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers, or potato chips.

Now I give you permission to go indulge in sin.

Festivities!

So Tuesday was my birthday! I turned the big 2-8!
I did not like my husband on my birthday, so I have no birthday pics with me and him.
He did not perform up to standard. It's always a good idea to actually wake up and acknowledge such a day as a birthday. That is all I shall say about such things.

But I did get some quality birthday time with my Granny!

And the hubs tried to redeem himself with balloons....

Then last night my most favorite chica Holli was in town, so we had birthday festivities at a restaurant called the Bone Garden Cantina.
Very cool.
This is the entrance:

And the inside...

Then we went SHOPPING! Love some retail therapy!

.

Aren't we just precious?!?!

Weekend Fun!

What a great weekend! Saturday night we went to a bonfire with some of our friends.
Our friend Eric made the CUTEST candle lighting!

And there was the roasting of weiners.

Chris embraced his inner-outdoorsman for a brief moment.

Me and Bobbiejo. Love her!

Me and the hubs.

So Sunday was the 10 year anniversary of our church. Chris has been working some RIDICULOUS hours lately to pull everything together for it. After the service, our church threw a huge party at a nearby park. So much fun!

Me and intern Rachel! love this girl!

Me and Carmen....love her too! Precious girl!

Yes, it was a great weekend!

T Minus 8 Days Until...

VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this is our first real adult married vacation in 7 years! Did you hear me? S.E.V.E.N. years!!!
To say we are excited, well that's just an understatement!
We found an awesome deal at a resort in Florida and absolutely cannot wait!
In 8 days I will be sitting here....

And partying here...

Ok partying is a bit comical. Chris and I don't exactly know how to party.
But it is vacation so maybe we'll channel our inner wild child!
my birthday is next Tuesday and Chris' is the Sunday we come back, so it's quite the perfect bday for both of us!
We just don't know what to do with ourselves. This is only the 2nd week long vacation that we've ever taken together.
It's going to be lovely.
Even if it rains the entire time, it will be lovely.
