To Have a Dream

Well today is MLK Day. How coincidental is it that it falls on the eve of the inauguration of our first black president? MLK definitely made such a difference in this world. I could not imagine living during that time. It's exciting too that my generation is able to see history happen with Obama. Now let me clear something up...I am NOT an Obama supporter. There are a million things that I do not agree with him on. HOWEVER, he is our next president and there's really nothing we can do about it. The Bible tells us that we are to pray for our leaders, and Lord knows he needs it! So I urge you all to please continue praying for our nation and ALL of its leaders. We are truly a nation in need of God. We can't sit back and wonder why things are the way we are if we, as a church, are not doing our part and uplifting our leaders in prayer. Dr. King, I too have a dream. I dream for a day when people can put aside all the things they think they're "entitled" to and come together as a community to lift up one another and not tear each other apart. Guess I'm feeling a little spiritual today!

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)
