teenage dream

y'all...i have been an emotional wreck this week.
to keep the tmi to a minimum, let's just say i'm in a perpetual state of pms with no end in sight.
yesterday was one of those days where i just wanted to cry...but i never fully had the ugly cry.
it's bound to happen soon.

at one point i sent chris a text message telling him that i wanted to eat a whole papa johns pizza, buffalo chicken fingers from zaxby's and a triple chocolate hot fudge sundae.

so last night there was nothing on tv so we watched the katy perry "part of me" movie on netflix.
ummm....SO good!
i loved katy perry before, but now i really love her.

and tears came when the little children's choir sang firework.
that's my jam.

I'm a sucker for a good teeny-bopper movie.

It's a sickness; I'm sure of it.

And as a result, Pitch Perfect ranks with one of my all time favorite movies.

So, I present you with the finale of the movie as my fave song of the week.

Yep, that's the ending of this movie for me.

The part where he does the fist pump..... melts me every. single. time!

She's some of my favorite chill or driving music.

And I also think I have an inner hipster that lives in my soul.

M is for MOVIES

there are few things that soothe the soul like curling up together on the couch and watching movies.

a momentary escape from the real world.

well we've been on a movie-watching kick lately.

we've also discovered the early bird special at the movie theater! $6 a piece baby!

then throw in our netflix library and the options are endless.

last weekend, we made our entire weekend revolve around movies.

awwww.

so i thought i'd share what we saw so you can watch them too!

the incredible bert wonderstone 

we love anything with steve carell, no matter how ridiculous it is.

we thought it was super cute. chris absolutely loved it. it was your typical steve carell movie.

machine gun preacher 

this movie was by far on the top of my best movies ever list.

maybe it's because my heart is ridiculously moved for orphans.

maybe it's because it's a true story.

either way, it is a MUST SEE. seriously. watch it.

it's free on netflix. 

and it has gerard butler. how could it possibly be wrong?

october baby

this is the story of a girl that was a survivor of a failed saline abortion. 

it is based on a true story, although the real life survivor actually has cerebral palsy.

good movie. great for teens too! definitely had a cutesy teenage romance, which i'm a sucker for.

jeff, who lives at home

we love jason segel and ed helms. they're great.

and we have a love for indy movies too. so this was a good mix of the two.

it's not their typical slap stick humor. but it was actually really good.

saftey not guaranteed

another fun, indy movie. and it has jake johnson, whom i adore.

(almost as much as i love gerard butler)

he plays nick in the show new girl.

if you aren't currently watching that on tuesday nights, you need to.

i digress. 

the movie was cutesy and dry, but we liked it.

bernie

another one based on a true story. and not your typical jack black movie.

it was really good, yet disturbing.

so this guy bernie worked at the funeral home in carthage, tx and everyone loved him. he befriended this mean old widow and ended up snapping on her and murdering her.

it was serious with a good dose of humor.

but then looking up the real guy just freaked me out a little.

i hope your weekends were marvelous.

chris and i practically act like an elderly couple, so we got up saturday morning and headed to a movie.

it was really the deal we were after. our local theater has early bird specials for $6 and since movies are so darn expensive these days, we welcome a lower price!

we saw oz.

it was ok...i mean, it was good, but not my favorite. but then again, i wasn't the one really wanting to see it anyway. at least it got us out and about.

have you watched the bible on the history channel?

we're loving it. there's just something about seeing all the stories you've read actually come to life a bit.

i like that they try to keep it close to what the bible actually teaches...

it's definitely become part of our sunday night routine.

finally, somehow, i have found my workout/diet motivation, so i've been going to zumba classes at the gym.

love, love, love.

and i did kickboxing saturday which is always a favorite.

New Faves

every once in a while i like to write a posts of my newest favorites.
i think it's important to share stuff like this because i find a lot of my new faves from various blogs and twitter posts.
these are a few things i came across this past week, and let me just say...happiness.

so over the weekend i went with a girlfriend to see pitch perfect. so, so, so cute.
i can't lie, i do love a "young" movie. and while i'm long past this life stage, i super loved the movie.
it's all about college singing groups - and it's great and hilarious. perfect for a girls night out.

next on the list, let's talk about johnnyswim. please do yourself a favor and get this album.

it's $2.99 and i promise it'll be the best $3 you've ever spent.

i'm super into the singer/songwriter style music, and well this is right up my alley.

their song heart beats....oh my. so good.

it's no lie that i love me some adele.

have you heard her new song, which also happens to be the new james bond theme song.

uh-mazing.

for real.

over the last couple weeks, i've seen a couple movies, bought a couple cds and i think you all need to add them to your collections!


seriously that good.


first off, let's go to the movies.

No Strings Attached - a MUST see. oh my, it was sooo good. a total chick flick but oh so cute. and it helps when you have ashton kutcher to look at!

my favorite part of the whole movie - he makes her a period mix cd. it has songs like sunday bloody sunday, i've got the world on a string, bleeding love, etc. SO funny! i love it!

now for some tunes. ok, if you've not heard of the civil wars, you need to look them up. they're a country-folkish type feel....great chillin music. they're sound is awesome. you need this on your ipod. for realz.

and adele. oh my. her voice is stunning. i've seriously been looking at this cd for a couple years. i have no idea why i waited until last week to buy it but i seriously love it. LOVE it! and she's got a new album coming out this month that i'll definitely be buying. her first single from it is out and i'm hooked!

now here are a couple individual songs that i'm loving. matt maher's hold us together is AHHHMAZING! amazing i say! love it to the nth degree!

and then chris august has a song called starry night that i'm obsessing over.

What's Tickling My Fancy

Here's a few things to get our week started:

1. CRASH: So, this week we joined Netflix. Friday we got our first movie. I've heard lots about the movie Crash, but had never seen it. So Friday night we came home and turned on the old boob tube. Except that we don't have a boob tube, we have a flat screen, but that's not near as fun to say as boob tube. Do you like how I just said "boob" 3, no 4 times and not meaning breasts? Very interesting movie. There's one scene in particular that totally took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. We're talking hold my breath, hard cry, then breath of relief, then "What?!" In like 30 seconds. Oh yes, roller coaster. I say this is a must-see. Definitely makes you think.

2. As I've mentioned before, www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com is one of my favorite websites. It's updated weekly, if not daily. The picture above was on it. Really? Really? Who decides that dressing up as clowns for family photos is the way to go? Like, who makes that decision? Better yet, WHO goes along with that decision??? Amazing.

3. This week is TV Fall Premier week. YES! There are so many shows I'm so excited for! Modern Family is definitely extremely high on my list! Parenthood started last week - I'm behind all ready! AND Big Bang Theory is moving to Thursday nights! This is messing with my schedule! Anywho, you can check out the full Fall Premier schedule by clicking HERE.

4. So I love looking at People magazine's website. Heck, I love People magazine.

What I'm not sure about is how I feel about Kate Gosslin. I really used to love her when Jon and Kate Plus 8 first came out. And during the divorce, I was totally Team Kate. I tried to still love her during her Dancing With the Stars stunt, but I'm seriously not sure about flaunting the cover of People in her bikini. Now don't get me wrong, she looks great. But she could have shown she looks great in a different manner. What happened to homey Kate? I liked her better with her spiky hair and nifty t-shirts. Am I being judgmental? We all know her response will be "I'm doing what I have to to take care of my kids" but seriously, people do it everyday without the help of Hollywood and TLC. Wow, didn't know I was so bothered by it.

And that's my two cents....no 4 cents for the day!

You Win Some, You Lose Some

OK, so the last few months have been quite the ride. Back in March Chris lost his job and just started his new job (or "yob" as the Latinos say) yesterday. He loves it! Thank God!!!! So, about a month ago, we moved in with his parents so we could save some money. WOW is all I can say. I've never lived with more than 2 other people, and when I did it was my mom and step dad, and my step dad doesn't even really count as a person (yeah, he had personality). Now I'm living with 5 other people! Let me just say, it's tough. We found an apartment we like, so now we've got to work out the details. I think it's best for my sanity and for the sake of the family for us to live elsewhere. I just might snap on somebody......and that would not be good!
On a happier note, school starts for me on Saturday. I am so incredibly excited! I'm finally starting my major courses--it's like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Side note: Stepbrothers is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. I love it!!!
