Hey friends! I've missed you so much.
Life has just been, oh you know, slightly chaotic.
There was graduation, vacation, the getting back from vacation, AND THE WORK FOR MY NEW PROJECT!!!!
Remember a little while ago I told you about Curvy Moi, a website/blog for the curvy ladies?
Well I am happy to announce that it launched this week!!!!
Eeeeek!
You can CLICK HERE to check it out.
And then add it to your feed reader, or favorites, or get it to your inbox by signing up for email. And follow us on instagram, pinterest and twitter too!
*shameless plug*
But for real, if you or anyone you know could use a little encouragement, fashion advice, or a safe place to vent, send them over to Curvy Moi.
I have to say, launching this has oddly made me very vulnerable and I wasn't prepared for it.
I've been so excited for launch day, but then when my friends/family complimented me on it yesterday after it launched, it felt strange.
I guess because I've tried for so many years to fit in with everyone else, and this kind of pulls me out and showcases the one thing I've hated about myself for my whole life.
But this is just part of my whole journey to accepting me for me.
I'm a curvy girl, always have been and probably always will be to some extent.
It's not a blog advocating an unhealthy lifestyle, but rather one that encourages women where they are.
The truth is, we all have something we wish we could change about ourselves; but that doesn't mean that you should be miserable with life as a result of it. So while I could definitely stand to lose a few pounds, I am also working to love myself in the midst of the changing; to stop beating myself up every day; to stop making ugly comments to myself in the mirror. It's time for me to be nice to...ME.

Curvy Moi
It's tough being a curvy girl in this world.
There's the constant struggle between self acceptance and self loathing.
And our media outlets and society are so contradictory.
On one hand they're launching campaigns to love yourself while on the other they are constantly showing what you should look like.
It's nasty y'all.
A few weeks ago I went dress shopping and had a terrible experience.
And I may have had an epiphany/breakdown.
As a result, I have some very exciting news!
One of my besties and I are launching a new website. We'll be launching it in just a couple of months, but we are so very excited about it!
It will be a place where the curvy ladies can go to get advice on the most flattering looks for their body types as well as leave refreshed and encouraged.
I can't wait to share it with you all! It's going to be EPIC.
EPIC I say!

a quick update
Let's chat about life lately:
- as part of my Healthy 2014, chris and i bought an elliptical. a big one. an expensive one. but a super super good one. and it's absolutely killing me because it won't be here until next week! i want it now, now, now! i absolutely can NOT wait to start thinning these thighs! (and belly, and well, everything else).
- so we had a fertility doc visit last thursday....the afternoon of the day i wrote this. i wrote that post before the visit...trying to get my mindset right. and actually it wasn't a bad visit. it wasn't the greatest, but definitely not bad. we're working through a couple of things, so he put me back on birth control just for a few months. he said my hormones and ovaries needed a break, and since we're working on some things, then now is the time to do it. so it seems odd of course to be trying to get pregnant, but using birth control, but i am actually a little excited for some hormonal BALANCE! we should have another update towards the end of february. remember my theme of hurry up an wait? yep. every visit is wait a little longer....it's actually comical at this point. seriously, i'm laughing.
- school is officially back in swing and needing much more of my time then i would like to give. however, it's the last semester ever, so i'll deal with it haha. graduation is in may! holla! and we're trying to plan our vacation during that week too. sad thing is that our favorite place to stay has straight up more than doubled their prices so now we're back to the drawing board. who has a free beach house they'd be willing to share for a few days? lol!
- saturday i drove up to atlanta for the morning to take a few maternity pics of the bestie. she's not officially due until mid-late february, but the contractions have started. sweet little baby's name is ClaraRae. how presh is that? and i'm a little obsessed with this photo:
- and then this coming saturday i'm heading to savannah to spend the night with one of my other besties. i'm so excited...it's a much needed get away! and i'm sure there's loads of trouble for us to find. if for some reason i get arrested, i'll be sure to share the mug shot with you all. JUST KIDDING!

i'm intrigued.....and i'd love your feedback

(source)
it's no secret that i'm a firm believer in clean eating.
i just have a problem adhering to it regularly.
anyway, i've recently (well last few years) become rather intrigued by those who live holistically.
you know, clay or stainless steel cookware only, no plastic, essential oils, all natural remedies, etc, etc, etc.
(side note: every time i say etc, etc, etc, it always makes me thing of The King and I. ah, memories).
like seriously, i am for real intrigued by this way of life. i think there's something to be said for it.
now i'm not saying i'm giving up modern medicine or anything, but i really am interested in the natural living.
and i'm really, really mesmerized about essential oils for healing, breathing, and so on.
i haven't even jumped into any of these things, but i think i'd like to. my life is in need of some real changes in this department.
i just don't exactly know where to start, or what the "right" things are.
just as touristy towns have tourists traps, i feel like the "all natural" products do too.
so i'm genuinely asking for your feedback.
do you do anything holistic? essential oils? all natural bakeware/cookware?
what extremes have you gone to? do you grind your own spices/flour, etc?
have you seen a real difference? has this changed any medical issues you have?
how have you adjusted your budget to include this way of life?
i'd love to hear from you and any advice you may have on the matter!

Pressing Forward.
have you ever noticed how daunting life change can be?
we set out on these adventures to change everything about ourselves and then get discouraged when we fall down. we see failure.
well, at least that's what often happens to me.
but i saw a quote today that managed to offer new hope.
"Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another." ~Walter Elliott
that is so so true.
i love a little dose of fresh perspective.
small victories are still victories.
so make each day a race instead of the whole year a race.
it could be many races in a day.
for instance, my first race could be choosing a wise meal for breakfast. and once breakfast is over, whether i finished wisely or not, a new race begins and i have a chance to "beat the time of my last race" by making wise lunch choices.
you see?
and this is true in EVERY. SINGLE. AREA. of our lives.
one thing at a time, one moment at a time.
we don't have to set out to make super drastic changes over night.
we have to start somewhere and baby steps are ok.
when someone decides to run a marathon, they don't just show up one day with no training and expect to complete it.
no, they train. they may run every day training. they may run lots of little 5k's and 10k's slowly building themselves up for the big race.
so start training. it's ok to start small as long as you're starting.

it's about to get real
today starts my weight loss challenge group.
when your muffin top is more like a doughnut, well....something must be done.
with a ridiculous lack of motivation, i needed a jump start.
i follow carly on instagram. i found her through a random #pcos hashtag.
she too has pcos, but has gone through an amazing weight loss journey since february.
and she did it through Team BeachBody and Shakeology.
i've seen her posting about challenge groups in which she is a coach, and i finally jumped on board.
i need the accountability and encouragement.
so today it all begins.
yummy good-for-you shakes.
workout dvds.
meal plans.
more exercise.
it is the necessary evil that is my life.
i posted some before pictures on our challenge group board and am utterly disgusted.
it's amazing how the perception of me in my head is sometimes so different from reality.
those bikini shot pictures were brutal. BRUTAL!
and at this point, this new adventure is 100% necessary!
but i'm excited. like really excited.
i'm ready to get this party started.
well and the fact that i paid good money for it lol.
it comes out to be like $4 a day which is $129 for a 30 day supply.
that seemed a little steep at first, but then when i thought about how much we spend on eating out each month......um this is actually really cheap.
if i cut zaxby's out of my life, i'm confident that my savings account will dramatically increase and weight dramatically decrease lol.
funny story about beachbody.
9 & 1/2 years ago while planning my wedding, i fell captive to a beachbody infomercial to which i paid like $90 to be "bikini ready".
about two years ago i gave those dvds to goodwill....still in the plastic wrapper.
i NEVER opened them!
so here we go again....let's do this!
i'll be posting periodic updates. this is a 90 day program which means i should be really cute for paris!
and then i guess i'll need some extreme assistance with not having a carb-fest while there!

it's the debil!
did you ever see waterboy? and they call the devil the debil?
love.
i have a list today of things that are straight from the debil.
first one topping the list: Zaxby's i may have a slight addiction. i think i could eat it every day of my life. and with just one meal topping out over 1,000 calories, it pretty much ruins a whole day of eating. it's like some magical force comes over and forces me to eat it....or forces me to think about it until i eat it. very, very bad....but oh so very good. you see my struggle?
second up....krispy kreme. this would be chris's "debil". there's one RIGHT by our place and he seriously cannot resist the hot and ready sign. it's like that magical force comes over and pulls the car right through the drive thru.

and my last devilish item of the day is yoga pants.
oh be still my heart.
i love me some yoga pants. it is my work outfit of choice being as i work from home.
but here's the problem: they're stretchy. so if you gain a few pounds here and there, they stretch with you.
and it's not until you try to put on real pants that you realize "uh-oh".
not that i'm speaking from experience or anything.
i just may have to start wearing jeans every day to work in just to keep my tummy in check.
we can't have that getting too far outta control, no sir!

what's the debil hanging over your head this week?

wednesday and weight.
my diet lifestyle has been pretty non-existent lately.
wait...i take that back. it has been a disastrous roller coaster.
you know the whole "i'm gonna get back on track monday, so the weekend will be a free for all" but then by wednesday i've fallen off the wagon and it starts again. thus, i haven't gained weight because i'll lose a couple pounds and gain it back, so i'm staying in one place.
so. not. good.
but alas, the time has come to get serious.
first of all, i refuse to live my thirties like my twenties.
REFUSE.
yes, the pcos makes it twice as hard as for the normal person, but that cannot be a crutch.
secondly, did you hear? i'm going to paris! (sorry, you'll probably hear a lot about this for the next four months).
and by golly, i'm gonna need some cute pictures and outfits for my little trip.
i want to look on those pictures with "oh we had so much fun" not "look how fat i am".
i have a goal of 10 pounds per month.
that would put me at my goal weight by december.
that means i should be 10 pounds lighter by my birthday.
it can be done. only 2.5 pounds per week which is a healthy goal.
and hey, if i lose more, well that's just flipping awesome.
now, it's time to get the booty to the gym and make the fat run away.
and come on, i've got to prep the body for the ridiculous amount of bread i plan to eat in good ole pari!

Tune Time!
Tuesdays + Music = Happiness.
Well at least in my book!
Tuesdays also = Zumba lunch hour, so in honor of booty shaking, I give you some shakealicious tunes!
Link up and play along!
So I've kind of been loving "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore, but after doing a massive booty shake to it in Zumba last night, I super love it. Holli posted this one a few weeks back, but it deserves another shout out!
I have to admit something here. Ok here it goes.
Pitbull makes me want to shake my booty.
There, I said it.
It's strange...I love his music and voice. Can't quite look at his face, but as long as I just hear him, I think he's super sexy! Bahahahaa!
That being said, I like to shake it to "Pause" by Pitbull.
Oh yeah!

goodness.
happy monday sweet friends!
i hope your weekends were marvelous.
chris and i practically act like an elderly couple, so we got up saturday morning and headed to a movie.
it was really the deal we were after. our local theater has early bird specials for $6 and since movies are so darn expensive these days, we welcome a lower price!
we saw oz.
it was ok...i mean, it was good, but not my favorite. but then again, i wasn't the one really wanting to see it anyway. at least it got us out and about.
have you watched the bible on the history channel?
we're loving it. there's just something about seeing all the stories you've read actually come to life a bit.
i like that they try to keep it close to what the bible actually teaches...
it's definitely become part of our sunday night routine.

finally, somehow, i have found my workout/diet motivation, so i've been going to zumba classes at the gym.
love, love, love.
and i did kickboxing saturday which is always a favorite.
watch out world....i'm back.

you know you love my random posts
y'all, i'm so excited! I hit the 200 follower mark. wahooo!
thanks so much to all of you lovely angels that read my crazy blog.
your comments really do make my day!
so this chick here learned herself some html coding and created those cute social media buttons on the right.
it's kind of a big deal to me haha!
i'd love if you followed me!
the facebook link now goes to a page just for the bloggy.
then of course there's twitter, instagram and pinterest.
oh.em.gee. you'll love this.
so yesterday, i was getting ready when i see my cat running through the bedroom with long strands of bubbly drool hanging out of her mouth. at first i though she was puking up ribbon or something and it was stuck.
so i'm chasing her, the dog is chasing her, chris is chasing the dog. meanwhile drool is everywhere and just keeps coming. i finally get to her and she freaks out and scratches up my face....mostly because the dog is right behind me. and then she goes into hiding. i'm freaking out, thinking she's dying. so i remembered seeing her in the shower right before the foaming occurred. and right there in the bottom of the shower was a big dollup of shampoo. i finally coaxed her out of hiding, wiped her mouth, and then starting sniffing her. yep, smelled just like some pantene shampoo. the sang cat ate shampoo and it was foaming in her mouth.
my world is one big circus. but fear not, all is right with the world now.
this week i have been like a starved raccoon, eating everything in sight. yep, finally at that whole pan of brownies. my justification: took me 4 days to do it. at least it wasn't all in one sitting.
what is up with that?
but i have had a nice little come to jesus meeting and walked/ran 2 miles yesterday. i think it's going to be my lunch time thing now. walking...eventually running it all.
i am so pumped for this weekend.
it's wedding dress shopping time for my lovely cousin and bff holli.
eeeeeek!!!! i can NOT wait!
then the grammy's are on sunday. i love an awards show y'all.
is valentine's day a love or hate thing for you?
i could care less either way. never have put too much thought into it.
BUT....one of my favorite bloggers of all times is an author, and she's doing an awesome valentines day "be His" gift package for high school/college age girls. so of course i bought one for my little sis in-law. i can't wait!!! she should get it monday, so then i'll tell you all about it.
there really is nothing better than surprises in the mail.
now go enjoy your weekend!

shaping up the schedule
i'm a planner. seriously, i get some major anxiety when things happen outside of my plan.
yes, me and god have lots of issues with this. generally, he tends to have his own plans and laugh at mine.
but i'm working on it.
ok, let me give you a little perspective....i try to plan "spontaneous" trips.
well planning it makes it not so spontaneous now doesn't it.
i decided this week that i needed a bit of an overhaul.
especially after my emotional fiasco of a week last week.
so i have created a schedule for everything in my life.
working out, menus, homework, housework, dinner, etc.
and i'm really, really excited about it.
but i'm even more excited about some rewards i have in place if i achieve certain things.
i've always talked about doing a reward system, but never actually set the rewards.
i'm pretty pumped about it.
so i'm sharing it here with you all..well, because i need a little accountability. every goal has absolutely nothing to do with food. i need it that way. one of my major problems in life is that i turn to food for comfort or celebration. so needless to say, my week last week resulted in a weight gain...i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that i ate skillet queso and salsa from chili's on my own last week. in achieving these goals, i'm still working on my 2013 word of the year - jesus. therefore, jesus needs to be my comfort, not chips and queso. or bread.
ok, if i stick to my schedule completely for 1 month, then i get a new sports bra.
if you're a big busted gal, then you know the importance of this. there's gotta be a better way than doubling up like i do now. and it's a hefty investment...well like $60+, so i need to show myself that i'm committed.
then here comes the fun ones.
15lbs lost - a new outfit
30lbs lost - spa day - facial and massage
45lbs lost - buy and WEAR a sleeveless summer dress (i do not ever, ever, ever show bare arms)
goal weight - 60lbs lost - a new wardrobe. these clothing items will be required to come from Ann Taylor, New York & Co, Express, etc. All clothes that never really fit me right, as i am now.

but what i'm really excited about is the system i have in place for how to afford the rewards! i'm going to put $10 away for every pound lost. so i will weigh myself weekly, and if i've lost 5 pounds that week, then i'll set aside $50.
so by my first goal, i'll have $150 at least to spend on a new outfit.
then by goal 2, i'll have $150 to go towards my facial and massage.
by goal 3, i'll have $150 to go towards a new dress, which will most definitely be under $50!
so if that happens, then by my goal weight, i should have $150 to go towards my new wardrobe. now i'm a bargain shopper, so i'm sure that my first goal new outfit will not cost $150. and if i get a good deal on my sleeveless dress, that's more money in the pot. so i'm estimating that i should actually have at least $300 when it comes time for the new wardrobe. and of course my ann taylor loft items will come from the outlet store...and on a sale day!
i am so so so excited for this!

working out, menus, homework, housework, dinner, etc.
and i'm really, really excited about it.
but i'm even more excited about some rewards i have in place if i achieve certain things.
i've always talked about doing a reward system, but never actually set the rewards.
i'm pretty pumped about it.
so i'm sharing it here with you all..well, because i need a little accountability. every goal has absolutely nothing to do with food. i need it that way. one of my major problems in life is that i turn to food for comfort or celebration. so needless to say, my week last week resulted in a weight gain...i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that i ate skillet queso and salsa from chili's on my own last week. in achieving these goals, i'm still working on my 2013 word of the year - jesus. therefore, jesus needs to be my comfort, not chips and queso. or bread.
ok, if i stick to my schedule completely for 1 month, then i get a new sports bra.
if you're a big busted gal, then you know the importance of this. there's gotta be a better way than doubling up like i do now. and it's a hefty investment...well like $60+, so i need to show myself that i'm committed.
then here comes the fun ones.

Dirty Dolls - Let's Do This!
a couple of weeks ago i told you i was participating in the team pretty muddy 5k here in dallas (june 1st).
i want you to be part of my team!
please?
i can't show up and be the only one on my team haha!
it's official. i'm all signed up and we've got a team.
wait for it....
Team Dirty Dolls! Yay!!!
So our race begins at 10am which would mean you'd need to be there by 9:15am.
good and early before it gets too hot, but not tooooo early.
AND if you register before the end of January, you'll get $20 off your registration price.
just use the promo code GIRLTIME
come on ladies, let's have some girl time, meet face to face and have a fun little bloggy outing!
tell your friends!!!! seriously, the more the merrier!
the race is girls only, but anyone you want can come cheer you on.
chris will definitely be there with camera in hand!
and i spoke with the founder last week and he assured me that it's for all fitness levels and not timed.
they really just wanted to create something awesome for girls to get out and do together.
i'm so excited i can hardly stand it.
and you know i'm envisioning dressing up for this.
tutus are a must ;) and maybe some crazy glittery false eye lashes. and pigtails. oh the options are amazing!
so, won't you join me?

Let's Get Muddy
y'all...i am sooo excited!
i've been wanting to participate in a mud run forever now.
well my time has finally come.
the team pretty muddy run is coming to dallas on june 1st at skyline ranch.
what a great goal to set for accomplishing those new year's goals of losing some weight or getting in shape.
i know it's super motivation for me.
the great thing about this run is that it's women only, lots of fun, and for all ages and fitness levels.
yes there's a little obstacle course, but you can pick and choose which obstacles you tackle. there's a walk-around for any you don't feel like attempting that day. that's a huge relief for me, because this girl isn't a huge fan of obstacles...especially those including climbing walls.
then after all the fun of wallowing in the mud, there's an awesome after party with live music, games, drinks...
oh yes and there's prizes and giveaways!registration is open now...who wants to join me? i'm registered! we can make a team!
annnnd we can dress up. so if we want to wallow in pink tutus, let's do it!
early registration ends 2/28 and that gives you $10 off.
come on! who's with me???

I have a problem.
something is wrong with me.
seriously, i think there's something wrong with my brain and getting started on things.
i have tons of grandiose ideas but i just can't start them for some reason.
over the past few days, i've become aware of more and more areas of my life where i do this.
take for instance, my diet.
the doctor told me i needed to eat clean.
15 days ago he told me this. you know, so i can have a baby and fix my pcos issue.
so for 15 days i have eaten as unclean as possible.
why?
i have lots of reasons excuses, but really, what is the deal?
or another example...jesus.
yes jesus.
while unpacking the other day i ran across a journal from my first year as a christian.
i was soooo eager for god and for knowledge about him.
and reading that totally rekindled something in my heart.
i mean i haven't been away from god or anything, but i miss that newness and eagerness to draw close to him.
so i made a schedule to set aside time to work on this.
yet for some reason, i've yet to open my bible.
that schedule also included other items to overhaul my life, like working out, etc.
but for some stupid reason my brain has some sort of block from me actually doing.
friends, this has to change. like now.
i'm over it. over myself.
how are some ways you push past resistance?

Ridiculous. That Sums It Up.
well i've done it.
i have willingly signed up for self-torture....that hopefully will end well.
what the heck am i talking about?
one word.
bootcamp.
sends shivers down your spine doesn't it?
isn't it funny how you can say one word and everybody everywhere instantly says "Oooooh."
so my friend jenny decided she and her fitness loving self needed to start a bootcamp.
and i willingly agreed to participate.
actually all the ladies in our small group have joined in for the fun.
so monday night was the grand opening first night.
we all showed up to jenny's house and had bootcamp right in her cul de sac.
mmm hmm.
i know this is posting on tuesday, but i'm writing it monday.
barely.
i only have use of my fingers.
my arms cannot move.
it's a sheer miracle that i made it up two flights of stairs to get in the house.
even more amazing is that i was able to drive home.
it was really great. we had 9 stations set up that we go through 3 times, all while jogging between sets.
all that in only 30 minutes.
there was jump roping, burpies, sit ups, squats....you name it, we did it.
and i'm super proud that i made it through!
i'm currently taking some medication that makes me light headed and a little nauseous. i thought for a second that i was about to puke/pass-out right there in the middle of the street.
but i willed my way out of it lol!
i'm ready for abs of steel.
and buns of steel.
and arms and legs of steel.
and anything else that can be steel like.
so yay jenny for kicking our butts into shape!
can't wait for wednesday!

The Weigh Things Are Going
so let's chat for a minute about the weight loss yo-yo game.
story of my life.
me and weight watchers....well we're not reall working out.
the points thing is such a flipping roller coaster for my brain.
let me have a moment of brutal honesty here -
last week i seriously had an ugly-face crying break down over food.
now honestly, food shouldn't have that kind of hold on me. and do you know what sent me over the edge? the freaking lack of white cheese dip here in texas. my georgia peeps will understand...it is the epitomy of mexican food in georgia. and here in texas, this stinking close to the border, there is absolutely no cheese dip.
well a few places have it, but it's not the same at all.
so take me whining because i can't have my white cheese nachos which completely spiraled into crying phrases (that were barely understandable) of things like
"i'm soooo hungry"
or
"weight watchers won't let me eat"
or this is my favorite
"why can't i just eat and not be fat?! or why can't i be fat and just not care?!"
it wasn't pretty folks.
poor, poor chris had no clue how to handle such a basket case.
he just held me and let me boo-hoo and said "honey, i don't think weight watchers is working for you."
at which point i wanted to respond in obscenities....and i may have.
i don't remember much about it, if that tells you how distraught i was over the flipping cheese dip.
i digress.
so i decided that i would go back to the lower carb, higher protein way of life because that's where i've had the most amazing results.
i just wish for a day when this struggle isn't a part of my every day...i'm sure i'll get that right about the time there's world peace.
last night i was looking through some old emails looking for a picture of the first time i met my neice. i had wanted to include it in yesterday's post.
and while i didn't find that one, i did find this masterpiece.
this picture was in february of 2010 at my brother's wedding.
hideous. gah-ross!
first of all, who decides its ok to make plus sized clothing in such unflattering prints.
sadly, i thought i looked real cute in this here zebra monstrousity.
my face is so fat you can barely see my facial features!
don't worry, i'm not self loathing.
i'm so thankful that i ran across this picture at this time.
that picture has reminded me of just how far i've come.
my size 20 dress to this here cutie in a large shirt.
i'm reminded of my promise to never go back there again.
so all of that to offer a little encouragement to any of you that may be struggling.
i've learned that this will be something i always struggle with and have to work towards.
it's my weakness.
but i can look at these two pictures and see that i have made and am making progress.
and even when i look in the mirror now and have some major ugly thoughts that go through my head, i can say that i'm not where i want to be, but i'm a heck of a lot further along than i was.
i guess this was god's way of giving me a little nudge to keep up with the fight.
Romans 5:3-4
"we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

The Weight Game
it's a never ending battle for me.
the "w" word.
weight.
and weight loss.
ick.
i have lots of excuses for why i'm not losing, but they're just that....excuses.
i don't like that word either.
however, i fully blame taco bueno.
hahaha - just kidding, just kidding. kind of.
i could eat my weight in bean burritos there....daily. and trust me, that's a lot of bean burritos.
but in true fashion, i'm always attempting a new approach.
so this weekend we joined weight watchers.
now i realize that the celeb endorsers of weight watchers are getting paid to lose weight.
but heck, they look good.
and i've done ww before and had great success.
so i'm hoping that continuing on with fresh clean foods along with the points game, success will happen.
chris likes making a game out of the points....and of course he gets many more points than me.
and well that just makes me mad!
i mean seriously, his lunch is my whole allowance for the day.
but, it has to be done.
no ifs ands or buts.
so today i pulled out all of my ww cook books and the time has come to get creative in the kitchen...and with points!
stay tuned for befores and afters.

Food and God. or God and Food.
well friends, it's been a while since my last weight loss update.
that's because i didn't want to admit that i've been failing miserably.
not that i've really gained anything (and for the last 2 weeks i have refused to get on the scale), but just my habits are bad. and that makes me feel gross.
i do not enjoy putting junk in my body.
so the other night while sitting at steak n' shake eating cheese fries, it hit me.
or god hit me.
there is a 100% correlation in how much time i'm spending with god and my eating habits.
stay with me for a second.
you see, our bodies are naturally created to crave things.
my body craves nurturing...from god.
but when i'm not spending time with him and allowing him to fulfill me, i tend to turn to food for that comfort.
which almost always ends up in me feeling worse.
this has been a major struggle all my life.
and while some people struggle with drugs, or alcohol, or sexual immorality, i struggle with food.
and sometimes, the food wins for a little while and becomes an all consuming evil.
thank god that he continues to nudge me to turn to him and let him help me with this.
and thank god that he continues to forgive me for putting more effort into my next meal than i do with spending 30 minutes with him.
our church service today was about how a little bit of bad can ruin all of you, if you let it.
one of the verses that really spoke to me was this:
Mark 14:38 (MSG) "...Stay alert, be in prayer, so you don't enter the danger zone without even knowing it. Don't be naive. Part of you is eager, ready for anything in God; but another part is as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire."
did you catch that? part of you is eager for god, but another part is lazy.
there will always be a part of me that is lazy and tempted. there will always be a struggle/battle between right and wrong.
but by staying alert and in prayer, you become aware that you're slipping into the wrong, or 'danger zone' as the verse calls it.
so today i was reminded that i was entering the danger zone.
and i went grocery shopping and bought all good and healthy things...fruits and veggies, etc.
we're getting my office area completely unpacked so that i have a designated spot for god time each day.
gym schedule is about to be made.
i know i can do this because i've done it time and time again.
but the ultimate answer to all my food related issues is simply this:
until i learn to fill my every need with god, my food issues will never go away.
it won't be fixed over night.
but if i can keep covering my issues with god, eventually i will overcome this.
because, as we all know, god is able. and in his name we overcome.
that's because i didn't want to admit that i've been failing miserably.
not that i've really gained anything (and for the last 2 weeks i have refused to get on the scale), but just my habits are bad. and that makes me feel gross.

I Love Atlanta: Food Trucks!
It's been a minute since my last "I Love Atlanta" post y'all!
But I'm sooo excited about today's post!
So, for lunch today, a few of us from work walked to the food truck. The trucks are at 12th St. and Peachtree
I ate at a truck called Happy Belly. They offer local grown organic foods - the menu looks delicious! And it's healthy! I've been hesitant to try the food trucks because I assumed they were unhealthy or they'd have nothing I would like to eat. I'm so picky.
But I'm sooo excited about today's post!
So, for lunch today, a few of us from work walked to the food truck. The trucks are at 12th St. and Peachtree
But much to my surprise....it was delicious! I had grilled free range chicken with organic zucchini noodles tossed in a fresh basil pesto. Yuuuummmmyyyy! And completely guilt free! The chicken is grilled, but SO moist. Not dry at all! And this was my first time with zucchini noodles....um definitely hooked and will be making them at home!
There are a lot of different trucks. Next week I'm planning my cheat day around this. There are some lemon parmesan french fries that I NEED in my belly! There's also BBQ, hotdogs, tacos, gilato, cupcakes, lobster mac and cheese....I mean the list is endless!
The prices are good too. My meal was $10, but that's expected with all local and organic ingredients. But all of the trucks have inexpensive items too. You could easily eat from several trucks for under $15.
So to my Georgia friends, you HAVE to try this! It's so much fun and, well...cultured! Lol! This whole experience really excited me - probably more than it should have, but nonetheless, it was awesome!
