Friday, Friday, Friday, Thank God It's Friday!

What up my blogging peeps?
Take a deeeeppp breath.......it's Friday! Ahhhhhh.

And to top it off - it's Friday Fives time! Be sure to check out Beth's blog and everyone that linked up to it.
This week is random Friday - We are taking next week off for Black Friday Thanksgiving!

1. Describe your IDEAL Saturday.
Ah, my IDEAL Saturday would involve sleeping in, my house magically cleaning itself, wrapped up in a blanket on the porch with some quiet time. Then maybe a couple random trips to various little stores with absolutely NO agenda!

2. Whats your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?
Hmmm...this is a hard one. See I pretty much hate all food Thanksgiving. I'm just not a fan. Never have been. So usually my family always hooked me up with a chocolate French silk pie. Yuuuum.

3. Whats one of your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
My family does something different every year. I think my favorite part about it is everyone just being together and visiting. I love that. A Lot.

4. Who does the cooking?
At Chris' family, his grandparents make the big stuff and everyone else brings snacks and desserts. With my family, everyone brings a dish. We like to spread out the load!

5. Do you shop on Black Friday??
Truly depends on the money situation that year. I'm still undecided for this year. Guess I better decide fast!!!
However, some of my favorite memories are from Black Friday shopping!

Christmas List....Friday Fives Style

Happy Friday!
Ok, you know the drill....check out Beth's blog for her Friday Fives!
Today's fabulous topic is 5 things that will be on my Christmas list! Yay!
And we're off!
1. All things from Charming Charlie. OMG, you must find one near you! It is the most fabulous women's jewelry store on the planet! Nothing (jewelry wise) is over $15 and it's awesome. You walk into the store and it's coordinated by color. Sheer fabulousness. Check out their website at www.charmingcharlie.com
2. Lenses for my camera - I really, really need some. They're SO expensive, but make all the difference in a picture. It's a good investment for my business.

3. Skin Care Products - I really want to get hooked on a good line of skin care products. I just feel like drug store brand stuff isn't cutting it anymore. Problem is, I don't know where to start. I've done Clinique and I'm not a huge fan. My dermatologist told me their yellow classic moisturizer is horrible for your skin. Sadness - it was the one thing I loved! Any suggestions?

4. Home Decor - I'm in great need of this! I just need some stuff to go on my walls and such to liven the place up. Really need to define a style.

5. A Spa Day - oh what this would do for me. Or, for about the same amount, the massaging chair insert. I tried one at Brandsmart and it was GREAT!

Ok, now join in on the fun!

Friday Fives and 9 Days Straight

Friday = Happiness.
And it also = Friday Fives time from Beth!

1. Whats your go to recipe?

My go to recipe is Taco Casserole. I've posted the recipe several times, but it's just so easy and so good! Always a hit.
Ingredients:
Tortilla chips, 1 can refried beans, Mexican blend shredded cheese, 1 pack taco seasoning (I like Old El Paso), Chicken or Beef, and 1 small onion.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Chop chicken into bite sized pieces and cook until done. While that's cooking, crush tortilla chips to cover bottom of a casserole dish. Spread beans over chips.
Mix taco mix into water as directed on packet. Once chicken is done, pour taco mix mixture into the pan and let simmer for 2 minutes. Then pour entire mixture over beans in dish. Top with cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes. Serve with all your favorite taco fixins (sour cream and jalapenos are my faves) and enjoy! Yummy!

2. When you hear "American food" what comes to mind?
Hmmm....I'm gonna have to go with fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy.
I could also go with BBQ!
Oh wow, this is making me hungry!

3. What would you say is one of your "weirdest" quirks?
Definitely my eating habits. I am SO weird with food.
For instance, I put vinegar in my soup.
I also strain my chili so that I only end up with a broth of sorts to eat. However, it is imperative to make chili with all the normal ingredients in order to get the right flavor.
Usually for everything I eat, I put something else on it to drown out the flavor of what I'm actually eating.
I might need counseling.

4.What color do you mainly wear?
I wear a lot of black. Hey, it's slimming.
But lately, I've really been trying to branch out and add a little color to the mix.
Baby steps.

5. Always have to say everything on your mind or never speak again?
I pretty much always say what's on my mind. That gets me in trouble sometimes, but that's just me!

So hooray for me, I have blogged for 9 days straight!
Woot woot!
Holla!

Today's topic is supposed to be pics of my friends.
Umm....I'm gonna have to get back to you on that one!

Friday Fives

I've been a Friday slacker lately! So.....it's time to get back in the game!
This week's topic at Beth's fab blog......Guess what I am coming over to your house! What would we do, eat, go , see ...tell me 5 things!! Oh yeah where do you live?

Ok, so I live in a town north of Atlanta called Marietta. LOVE this town. It's just so homey.
There's a million places I love for food.
For breakfast we would have a delicious southern bfast at Doug's Place in Cartersville. The BEST gravy biscuits ever!
From there we'd take a trip into the big city and do a little site seeing. But of course we'd work up an appetite and have to eat lunch at Carolyn's Gourmet Cafe. YUMM-O! My fave is the confidence wrap which is buffalo chicken. Mmm, mmm, mmm!
There's so much to see in Atlanta. SO much! So after spending the afternoon there, we'd head back into Marietta and hang out at the cutest town square EVER. And we'd have to have dinner. I'd have to take you to my favorite Mexican restaurant - La Parilla. They have some super yummy nachos!

Georgia has so much to offer, you'd definitely need to stay a couple days. It's one of the few states where you can see the mountains, the ocean, the city life and flat farmland life! We've got it all!

Goals Shmoals and of course Friday Fives

Well congrats to me for finally deciding to post this week!
And since I'm feeling spiffy, I thought I'd let you in on a few things that have brought me much happiness.

And that happiness is the direct result of Fall TV! And that also just so happens to be the topic of Friday Fives over at Beth's Blog!

Now, of course I am loving a bit more than 5. So maybe I'll go with each night of the week.

1. Monday
  • Rules of Engagement
  • Mike and Molly
  • Chuck
2. Tuesday
  • Glee
  • Biggest Loser
  • Parenthood
  • Flipping Out
3. Wednesday
  • The Middle
  • Better With You
  • Modern Family
  • Cougar Town
4. Thursday
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Community
  • 30 Rock
  • The Office

5. Friday
  • The Good Guys
Now naturally I don't watch all these every night but I like to at least catch one or two while multi-tasking. Ahh, happiness!

Moving right along, I have goals starting next week.
I have been a bad blog follower and commenter.
This saddens me because I absolutely LOVE getting comments on my blog!
But life has just been a little crazy.
So, I promise to be a commenting fool next week!
AND I have lots of things to share with you next week as well.
Enjoy your weekend and see you Monday!

Friday Fives Time!

It's always a good day when it's Friday! And Friday means it's time to check in over at Beth's blog for her fabulous Friday Fives.

1. What's your "comfort food"?

Bread please. And chocolate. Oh and french fries. All carbs.

2.One thing thats on your mind right now?

Hubby's birthday dinner! We're heading to a Brazilian steakhouse for some all you can eat meat! Hey, it's protein right! AND carb free! ;)

3.what's the best advice you've ever received?

Hmmmm.....oh yes, let's go with this one: "No man is worth your tears and the one who is won't make you cry." ~Author unknown.

4.If you found $10 today, what would you do with it?

I would like to think that I would make a donation to charity:water with it, but let's be honest, I'd probably buy lunch. Loser.

5. What is your least favorite thing to clean in your house

That would definitely be the toilet. I think I've mentioned before that hubby has a little trouble hitting the HUGE opening that pee is supposed to go in. And it's really in his best interest to clean it, because when I do, the more I clean the madder I get.

Do You Remember?

This week for Friday Fives at Beth's blog, we're remembering September 11th.

It's one of those days I'll never forget.
Ever.

It was my senior year of high school.
We were in the transition to 2nd period and during that time of day, my school sold Chick-fil-A biscuits.
I was in line to get one and my friend said "A plane just flew into the World Trade Center!"
We rushed to class - which was a mass media class, so we had the news on.
And it was then, as we were all watching, that the second plane hit.

I think we were all in shock.
My teacher was too.
We did nothing but watch the news for that class.

Our principal announced it to the school and parents were coming to pick up their kids.
It was a horrifying time for our nation.
Especially our generation.
This was like our Pearl Harbor.

I remember the news coverage of people leaping to their death from the buildings hoping that they just might survive.

Days of lost contact with people, not knowing if your loved ones were involved, trapped....dead.

I had always been patriotic, but never more than after this day.
So many innocent people lost.

May we never ever forget that day.
Never forget those lost and impacted.
Never forget what our country stands for.
Never forget those who tirelessly fight for it.

9/3/10

Refrigerators.

Hi friends! Happy Friday to ya!
Today's Friday Fives topic is 5 things in your fridge! After you check out my list, be sure to pay a visit to BETH!

Alright, so my fridge always, always has the following:

1. My new found love is my Brita pitcher. Water tastes so much better now!

2. Sour cream. Oh, yes I can't eat a potato or anything Mexican without it! Trust me, it's a bad night if we run out of it!
3. Cheese. My hubby is a cheese addict (and I like it pretty well myself). He puts it on EVERYTHING! It's definitely not a happy home without cheese in the fridge.
4. Mustard. Oh I love me some mustard. Sometimes I eat just mustard sandwiches. Sometimes just by the spoonful. I know...strange.

5. Last but not least, good ol' Frank's Red Hot. I love me some hot sauce - on everything. There's really not much I don't put it on.
Ok, now I'm feeling a bit hungry and ready for lunch!

8/27/10

Friday Friday Friday

Oh dear friends, Happy Friday to you!
This is a fabulous day!
Why? you ask?

Well high school football kicks off tonight! That's right folks, I'll be heading on over to Pope High School, home of the Greyhounds, to cheer on my lil' sis-in-law as she parades around the field with a flag and a rifle! Colorguard time! Saturday is the lil' bro-in-law's JV football game, so it's a football weekend! And, and, and do ya know what? College ball starts next weekend! YAHOO!!!!

Enough of that.
Tomorrow I'm super excited as well because I'm helping to host a baby shower for a couple of our dearest friends, Todd and Lyndsay! We're gonna party it up as we celebrate their little one that will be here in November! Just in time for Christmas!!! I do love me a baby to buy for!

Ok, now on to what you really want. Friday Fives!!! Beth's topic today is....random questions!
**disclaimer: As I'm writing all this, I have a TV show announcer in my head saying it all. So please...let him announce all of it in your head too!***

1. Something you are OCD about.
Let's see here....I think I have quite a few OCD moments in life. All of my cash bills have to be in order and all facing the same way.
Oh yes, and we are never to be caught sitting in the dark when it's daylight outside. A lamp must be on or windows open. No cave bats here!
I know I have much more, but I just can't think of them all. I'm sure Chris could tell ya! I drive him crazy!

2. Your Favorite Quote
Love me some Audrey Hepburn, so here you go:
"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

3. What is the farthest you've been from home?
That would be Slovakia! We went there on a mission trip to teach English at a camp. It was simply amazing.

4. Do you do a real or fake Christmas tree?
Always real. We tried fake once and it just wasn't the same. I'd rather not have one at all if it can't be real. There is no other smell like it!

5. First blog you've ever read.
That would be Meg's blog - Whatever. It was her blog that made me start my own. And Heather too!

8/6/10

I Miss Being A Kid

Happy Friday!
Although I've been a blog slacker this week, I thought I'd end it right with Beth's Friday Fives!
The topic: 5 things you miss about being a kid
The answers:

1. Family Vacations. I miss those soooo much. We used to take family vacays to the beach in the summer, the mountains in the fall. So much I miss about those times. Sadly, we haven't done that since I was in the 8th grade. Yes, that would be 14 years! Wow. That's just stupid!!!

2. Like Beth, I too miss the love of summer. It used to be my favorite - no school, lazy days, fun trips. Not so much these days. Summer is now officially the time of year I hate most!

3. I miss the innocence. How great was it when we didn't know all the struggles that our parents went through to pay bills and give us nice things. It was so much better when I didn't know how the mortgage payment got paid, it just did. I miss the days of fairy tales and magical stories. How my grandaddy was magic because he made the money to cover the checks my granny wrote! The magical feeling a kid feels at Disney World is unlike any other! Those were the days!

4. I miss playing in the woods. Looking back, it's a miracle that I wasn't eaten by snakes and bugs and boogy monsters! But I absolutely loved, loved, loved the woods. I had no fears there. Ironically enough, the woods scare me to death now!

5. I miss the first day of school! Weird, I know. But everyone always had their new fall clothes, and even though it was still very hot when school started back, you still wore your cutest new outfit - even if it was a winter one! I loved it!

7/30/10

Happy Friday and End of July Party

Hi friends!
TGIF! For realz!
Can you believe that July is done? Well as of tomorrow it's done.
Do you realize that means that Christmas is right around the corner???!!!
Wow.

But since it's Friday, it's time for Friday Fives from Beth. And, by the way, it's her birthday today, so go visit her blog and giver her some birthday love!

Five Random Question Time!

1.If you could be on a show(talk show, game show...) which one would you pick?
I would love to be on Ellen. She always has the BEST give aways! I'd like to be on Rachel Ray too. And of course, if Oprah wasn't retiring, I'd choose her too!

2. What was your first job?
Well technically I worked for Old Navy for 2 days. I was not really in to folding the jeans on the massive blue jeans wall! So after that I worked two jobs - I was a nanny a few days per week and I worked at a small town drug store. The nannying job had lots of drama - turns out the mom was cheating and none of the 3 boys were her husband's - and he didn't know it!

3. What's one of your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate and more chocolate please.

4. Would you ever vacation alone?
I don't think I would. I might like it for a few hours, but then I would get bored with myself. I'm not really that exciting!

5. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is)?
Republican! However, I think that there are major issues that all parties need to work on, but Republicans share my core values.

7/23/10

So. Awesome. For Realz!

I'm loving this vacay I just took because I've only had to work 2 days this week!
F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.
So that brings me to Friday - which is......Friday Fives!

First, read my junk below.
Second, head on over to Beth's blog and check out her junk! :)

The topic for today....Top 5 Wishlist.
This is totally something I can do!

1. An all inclusive trip to the beach/honeymoon. Yep, 6 years later, still no honeymoon. AND in all our travels, we've always stayed super cheap, so I would like a luxury hotel room please. And massages. And relaxation. And, and, and....you name it, I'll take it!

2. Jillian Michaels. I love her. And I would love for her to come get in my face and yell at me. Help me find out what I'm really holding onto with all this weight. Scream some more and get me into shape!

3. Italy. Ahhhh, I've always dreamt of going here. One day. One day.

4. Now I would just love love love a shopping spree for camera equipment and props! You have no idea how that would just make my heart flutter!

5. And finally on our wish list trip today, I present you with - a baby. Oh yes, I'm reaching that point in my life where this is the all consuming want! However, my body is refusing to cooperate at the moment. Yet another reason Jillian needs to come visit. I don't need ALL the odds against me!

7/16/10

Friday Fives Time!

What's happening my bloggas?
It is Friday! Fabulous Friday! This means in less than 2 days, the hubs and I are NYC bound! Yippee!
You know what else?
Today marks my 300th post! 300!!!
Who knew I had so much to say!

Anywho, what better way to celebrate 300 whole posts than with a little Friday Fives!

This week's topic: Five things you do to relax, destress, contain your composure or that you just enjoy doing for yourself!

1.) Scrapbooking. Ahhh, this makes my heart happy. There's all kinds of frustration that can be taken out with a pair of decorative scissors! I can spend a couple of hours scrapbooking and leave a new woman.

2.) The Spa. Oh, there's just nothing better. Love, love, love it. This includes massages, mani's and pedi's! I haven't been in so long! I definitely need to put that in the budget next month!

3.) Photography. Now this just makes my hear flutter any time of day, but if I'm particularly stressed out, I can go to a random field, take some pics, and voila! All better!

6.) Movie night with the hubs. What can I say, I love my man! After a rough day, there's nothing better than curling up with the hubs and watching a movie. Unless of course he's the source of my stress.

5.) Spending a little quality time with God. After all, He is the ultimate stress reliever. Sometimes I can just go to my room, cry it out in a prayer, and feel all better. There's something refreshing about knowing that He's in control and there's no need for me to stress over it.

Now you know what to do - head on over to Beth's blog and check out everyone else participating today! Have a most fabulous weekend and I'll be back Wednesday with lots to say about NYC!!!

It's time for Miss Beth's Friday Fives!!!

Yay! Woohoo! Hooray!

Ok, so the topic this week? I'm super excited about it! It is your 5 favorite blogs!
So yay - I get to show some blog lovey love!

Now, let me put my disclaimer out now. I'm not listing my fav Friday Five bloggers because, well, everyone needs to hop on over to Beth's blog and scroll through the linkies at the bottom of the post. I can promise it will not disappoint. So there's a whole slew of some of my faves! And of course Beth is on my list because, well, I participate in this every week!

Moving on.

Here's my favorites! Now, I can't list them all because it would take all day, so feel free to take a gander at my blogroll on the side bar. ALL of my favorites are there!

Let's start with Meg. Her blog is Whatever. Please promise you'll visit her. She's awesome, amazing, talented, creative, spiritual, and well, just plain wonderful. I wish I could be real life friends with her! You should definitely check out the pictures of her craft room. You will drool.

And then there's Annie from Annie Blogs. I heart her. Big time. She's hilarious and godly and just someone you'd want to be best friends with. She's a freelance writer in Nashville and her blog always, always makes my day!

***No disrespect to anyone else - I just got lazy on pulling all of your pictures! It orinigally seemed like a good idea!***

Then of course we have the Lumberjack's Wife. She will totally have you in complete hysterics! Love, love, love her! AND I made it on her blogroll (I'm listed as Lauren)! I've made it big time. Lol. You will love her!

Next on the list is Charlie! Her blog is Operation Shrink Charlie's Big Butt. Now this is one funny lady! She has added a huge dose of humor to her weight loss adventure! Check. It. Out.

Now these next two blogs make my heart flutter. Yes, flutter. They're fabulously inspiring as far as home decor and dyi projects go. So, I'm gonna need you to check out The Lettered Cottage and Lemon Tree Creations.

I'm also loving Jenna - this sweet hometown southern girl - over at her blog These Are The Days. She's witty, funny, and downright precious!

And last, but certainly not least is my blogging buddy Heather. Check her blog My Name Is Heather And I'm A Planaholic! We've got a creative, crafty, runner on our hands here and YOU should be reading about it! :)

Well I think that's enough for now. And remember to check out all the other blogs on my sidebar and on Beth's blog post for this week.

Happy weekend!

5 Random Questions

It's time for Friday Fives! Aren't you excited?

Check out Beth's blog and play along.

This week's topic is 5 Random Questions:

1. If given a choice to skip work for a day, how would you spend the entire day?

I would totally spend a day at the lake. Chris' aunt and uncle have a huge part dock at Lake Blue Ridge and I would literally love to sit my happy butt on that dock and chill ALL day long!

2.If you could start fresh, what profession would you choose?

Hmm...that's a good one. I have mixed emotions on this. Part of me thinks that if I had the opportunity to finish school in timely manner and graduate at 22 like I was supposed to, I probably would have finished up as a teacher. That had always been my passion. Now, not so much. If I could start fresh, I would get a good photography degree and pursue that.

3.What is your favorite candy or candy bar?

Love me some Kit Kat Bars, Hershey Kisses, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Oh, and I love the Midnight Milky Way. However, the original flavor Life Savers are loved equally as much!

4.Have your ever ordered anything from an infomercial or bought an"As seen on TV item"?

Ah, yes. About 6 weeks before my wedding I bought the 'Slim in 6' DVD for $60 from an infomercial. It's been almost 6 years and I've yet to remove the packaging. I mean really, who pays $60 for a DVD?! It was sure to shed all those unwanted pounds in 6 weeks. Guess I'll never know. Oh, and I also bought an elliptical from QVC. Another sad purchase. That one was only $80 and the machine became a great storage facility for misc. things!

5. Whats the movie you ALWAYS cry at??

Steel Magnolias. Love. That. Movie.

6/18/10

It's Friday!

Alright kids! It's time for Friday Fives over at Beth's Blog!
If you could have lunch with any 5 people (real of fictitious/ from any time period, dead or alive) , which 5 people would you choose?
Audrey Hepburn:
I. Love. Her.
Need I remind you of my post that was nothing but Audrey quotes?

Queen Elizabeth

I just want to know what it's like to be royalty. Really get an understanding of their bloodline and all the rituals and such. I'd like to know what it was like when she was crowed, etc. I just think it's down right cool!

Bono from U2
Um, just because he's AMAZING! I love his heart. I'd like to know more about his charity work, and the lyrics of his songs. They are usually so deep and have such Christian undertones - I'd just like to get into his head a bit.

Rob Bell
Ok, he's awesome! By far one of the best preachers out there - EVER. He preaches at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm telling you, his stuff is amazing. You should check out his website or his Nooma videos. Did I say awesome?

Dean Martin
I love Dean Martin. I think I was born in the wrong time period. I love his swoon and his swagger. I don't exactly what all I would ask him, but I'd love to have met him!

Friday Fives - LT Style

T. G. I. F. my peeps. TGIF.
And of course, since it's Friday, I have to join in on Beth's Friday Fives - 5 Random Questions.
Alright, let's do this!
1. Are you a MAC or a PC???
I am totally a MAC. OMG - LOVE them! Once you go mac you never go back. I promise.

2. If you could go anywhere on vacation this summer where would you go???
Well, I'm really in need of a beach. I'd actually like to take a cruise to the Bahamas or Caribbean. That would be amazing. But, we're going to NYC instead, and maybe somehow we can squeeze in a weekend beach trip.

3. Which is your most cherished childhood memory?
My most cherished is probably my Granny rocking me to sleep. She had (and still wears) this diamond heart necklace. I remember we would sit at the table in the kitchen and she'd hold me and rock me to sleep (while I was playing with the necklace) while singing "Will The Circle Be Unbroken". FYI - it's a very sad song. She has a habit of singing the saddest songs as lullabies!
4. What were you doing the last time that you had a good laugh?
Hmmm.....I don't know. The hubs keeps me laughing so I was probably riding down the road. We spend A LOT of time laughing.

5. What is your favorite book or magazine??
Now this one's a toughie. As for books, I've read several this year that I really enjoyed. LOVED the Emily Giffin series - Something Borrowed and Something Blue. The were both great! I typically don't have a lot of time to read, so when I do I'm kind of lost as to what to read. I'm so out of touch with which authors are good, so I'd gladly take any recommendations you may have!
As for magazines, I don't have any regulars anymore. I must say, I do love any pertaining to recipes or home decor. I guess that changes with what's important to me at the time. Funny how it all changes.
Ok, so now all of you join in! Don't forget to link up over at Beth's Blog! Have a fabulous weekend!
