midwifery

i've professed my love for british tv before.
you know i've got a thing for downton abbey.

well netflix has got me hooked again.
it's a show called call the midwife.
pbs has done it again.
it's all about midwives in london back in the day.
at first i wasn't sure about it....but now i absolutely love this show. i paced myself to watch the 6 episodes of season 1 so i wouldn't be so sad. but then i got excited because i can watch season 2 online! my weekend plans are now set haha!

what are some shows you can't live without?

i love the brits.

i have always had a fascination with europe.
and last year i fell into the wonderful trap that was downton abbey.
absolutely loved it.
but then i couldn't get season 2 anywhere, so i surely didn't watch season 3.
well last week i discovered that i had access to amazon instant video through my prime account.
hello awesomeness!
and all 3 seasons of downton abbey are there!!!!!!
oh. emmmmm. geeeeee. y'all!

and so i have been sucked in, in the worst best kind of way!
i now wish to live in england in the 1900s, wear fancy dresses, speak beautifully, etc. etc. etc.

in the last 2 days i have watched season 2 while i work.
it's a beautiful thing.
and it will be terribly sad once i finish season 3.

i always do this.
i get crazily wrapped up and feel like i know these fictional characters and then i go through withdrawals once i'm finished.
i know full well that the outcome is poor.
yet, i proceed into the abyss anyway.

here's to you downton abbey.
cheers.

and i do hope you read this with a british accent. i sure did write it with one!

I'm So Proud

Alright, so who watched the Grammy's last night?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the show.
Who was your favorite?
Who was your least favorite?

I thought it was a good show overall.....so excited that they opened in prayer. Pretty awesome!
I have to say I was pretty disappointed in Niki Minaj's performance.
And this really makes me sad because I REALLY like her.
But that was a bit over the top!

But I do have to say that I'm SO excited for Adele!
I love her, I seriously do.
I think she's awesome.
She's real.
She's not trying to be something she's not.
She has real talent.
And her music is great!

I kind of feel like a proud mama of sorts because for once I was onto something good before everyone else!
It was actually this time last year that I tried to convince you all to buy her album!
See HERE.

And then there was Bon Iver who won best new artist.
Ummm...so proud here too because I've been on the Bon Iver train for like a year!
It's great chill music.

And that is all for my Monday music rant.

But seriously, what were your thoughts?

I'm really not a couch potato, but....

I feel like I'm always blogging about a new tv show.
And y'all, I'm seriously not a couch potato. I just always have the tv on in the background while I work.
You know, multi-tasking.

So recently I've been "multi-tasking" with The Braxton Family Values.

Now, I was born in the 80s. Which means I am a fan of music from the 90s. Personally I think it was one of the greatest musical eras! But anyway, I loved me some Toni Braxton.
For realio.
And she lives in Atlanta.....holla!
But she and her family have a show on We right now and I'm totally sucked in!
I love it!
And I think you should check it out.

And that's all for a little random Friday post! ;)

Drop Dead Happy!

The last two weeks have been spent deep in the throws of photo editing! It is wedding season after all!

But I did have one great joy while spending endless days staring at the computer....Drop Dead Diva. Now I've told you about my love for this show before...and that was only season 1! Chris discovered all of Season 2 on demand with our cable, and it was only available until 6/20. So I watched all of Season 2 this past weekend and the best part? The Season 3 premier Sunday night!!! Wahooo!

Yes, the show is cheesy at times, but overall I'm completely addicted.
And you know what else?
It's filmed right her in the great state of GA! Holla!

6/7/11

Just a few things...

So this weekend (while editing photos) Chris and I had a Dexter marathon of season 4. OMG, we're seriously addicted. And I seriously feel like something is wrong with me for my love for this show. I mean come on.....it's about a guy that's a serial killer. And somehow, you find yourself on his side and insanely intense. I don't know what the appeal is, but I'm hooked.

I'm totally rocking out this CD right now - Mandisa's newest "What If We Were Real". Ummm....so so so super good. For realz!

I would just like to publicly declare that I think Need To Breathe is one of the greatest bands ever to grace the radio. I heart them mucho!

And that is all.

My New Crush

Well I'm about two years behind, but I'm completely smitten.
With what you ask?
Drop Dead Diva.
It's a show on Lifetime.
I heard about it when it came out, and for whatever reason thought it would be lame.
So with no cable and our recent move, I've been hitting up Netflix.
Drop Dead Diva just so happens to be on there.
And I'm officially hooked!
I absolutely LOVE it! I mean seriously love it!
You seriously need to watch it!

Here's the idea:

The series revolves around vapid blonde and aspiring model, Debbie (Deb) Dobkins (played by Brooke D'Orsay in the pilot and in flashbacks), who is killed in a car crash. As her soul enters the gates of Heaven, she finds herself declared a self-centered "zero" (meaning she has performed zero good deeds and zero bad deeds during her time on earth; she is simply shallow) by the gatekeeper, Fred. After not liking what she hears, she presses for a return to her former body, hoping to get back to Earth. Deb gets her wish, only to be brought back to life in the body of a recently deceased, intelligent, overweight lawyer named Jane Bingum.

Initially horrified, Deb – in her new human form – discovers the meaning of inner beauty as she finds the ability to juggle legal cases, aided by her assistant Terri, while attempting to reconnect incognito with her still-grieving boyfriend, Grayson Kent, who just started working at Jane's law firm. At the same time, Deb begins to rediscover her past while learning more about her inherited body's current life, and how Jane was treated when she was alive. In addition to Fred (who was demoted to guardian angel and had been assigned to watch over her at the law firm), only Deb's long-time mortal friend Stacy knows Jane's true identity.

Oh, and happy St. Patty's Day!

BETHENNY!

Are you a Bravo TV junkie like me?
I can't help myself...I love it!
Real Housewives of New Jersey is my favorite, but New York is a close second.
Do you remember Bethenny Frankel that was on the first two seasons?

You know, Skinny Girl margaritas, books, etc??
Well she was in the ATL Friday night and me and my bestie had tickets!
That's right, we were sitting pretty at the Skinny Girl Night Out with Bethenny.
She was so funny!
She talked a lot about her books...she has a new one coming out this month.
But her regular chatting other than the book was great.
It was definitely a neat experience and I'm glad I can say I went.

Saturday afternoon my aunt and I took a trip to Barnsley Gardens. I'm working on the photos, but will post soon. So lovely!

And the rest of my life equals unpacking!
Oh, and of course there's the marathon I'm having of Drop Dead Diva.
It's on instant play from netflix.
That's all we have until the cable man comes Friday!

What's Tickling My Fancy

Here's a few things to get our week started:

1. CRASH: So, this week we joined Netflix. Friday we got our first movie. I've heard lots about the movie Crash, but had never seen it. So Friday night we came home and turned on the old boob tube. Except that we don't have a boob tube, we have a flat screen, but that's not near as fun to say as boob tube. Do you like how I just said "boob" 3, no 4 times and not meaning breasts? Very interesting movie. There's one scene in particular that totally took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. We're talking hold my breath, hard cry, then breath of relief, then "What?!" In like 30 seconds. Oh yes, roller coaster. I say this is a must-see. Definitely makes you think.

2. As I've mentioned before, www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com is one of my favorite websites. It's updated weekly, if not daily. The picture above was on it. Really? Really? Who decides that dressing up as clowns for family photos is the way to go? Like, who makes that decision? Better yet, WHO goes along with that decision??? Amazing.

3. This week is TV Fall Premier week. YES! There are so many shows I'm so excited for! Modern Family is definitely extremely high on my list! Parenthood started last week - I'm behind all ready! AND Big Bang Theory is moving to Thursday nights! This is messing with my schedule! Anywho, you can check out the full Fall Premier schedule by clicking HERE.

4. So I love looking at People magazine's website. Heck, I love People magazine.
What I'm not sure about is how I feel about Kate Gosslin. I really used to love her when Jon and Kate Plus 8 first came out. And during the divorce, I was totally Team Kate. I tried to still love her during her Dancing With the Stars stunt, but I'm seriously not sure about flaunting the cover of People in her bikini. Now don't get me wrong, she looks great. But she could have shown she looks great in a different manner. What happened to homey Kate? I liked her better with her spiky hair and nifty t-shirts. Am I being judgmental? We all know her response will be "I'm doing what I have to to take care of my kids" but seriously, people do it everyday without the help of Hollywood and TLC. Wow, didn't know I was so bothered by it.

And that's my two cents....no 4 cents for the day!

A Few Things Jersey

Could someone please fill me in on the latest fascination with all things New Jersey?

Really?

Someone? Anybody?

Well I don't know what the fascination answer is, BUT I'm fascinated too!

I love me some Real Houswives of New Jersey (Bravo), some Jersey Shore (MTV) and some Jerseylicious (Style).

Plain ol' addicted, that's what I am.

We've got some crazy rich ladies on RHNJ.
