Artsy Fartsy Part Deux

after a beautiful morning at the louvre, we headed for a little snack break at Angelina.
a co-worker told me i had to go here. they are world famous for their hot chocolate.
and oh.my.word. it was stunningly delicious.
i fell in love with the outside decor. and there was a wait down the sidewalk, but we hopped right in line.

it was so quaint and elegant.
and this was our first experience with the super close seating.
i mean you're basically sitting RIGHT next to other people, which is terrible for those like me who eavesdrop on other peoples' convos.
it was as a result of this that i decided i need a British BFF.

so i started with an eclair. it was filled with chocolate cream.
it was DELISH!

but the hot chocolate, oh the hot chocolate!
AMAZING. AMAZING I SAY!

it was thick and rich and high quality and AMAZING.
i could literally have an iv drip of the stuff.

after a gluttonous indulgence of chocolate, we headed over to the Musee d'Orsay.
i was so excited for this one...it's where the Monets are!

random side note....you can see Montmartre from the clock at the top of the museum.
it was the one place on our list that we didn't fit in.

but at least i have a distanced picture of it.

another random side note: apparently photos were not allowed here, whereas they were in the Louvre.
and apparently, i also do not know how to read signs made entirely of pictures stating such a rule.
i discovered this after taking my first photo (and getting lots of "looks"), but there was no way i was leaving without proof that i was there. so i randomly snapped a few more of my favorites ;)

clearly i had not been educated in the discipline of museum etiquette.

ok, ok. so i knew going in that all of the Monet paintings were not here.
All of the water lilly paintings i really wanted to see were in a different Paris museum....that we sadly didn't make it to.
however, i at least saw one.

these are also Monets...that i had completely forgotten about, but I LOVED these when i was younger. it was so cool to see the real things.

well hello vincent.
this is one of the famous van gogh self-portraits.
a hand painted selfie.

now, THE starry night is on display in NYC.
but this one settled my desire as well, and was painted before the starry night.
this one is starry night on the rhone.
just beautiful.

Artsy Fartsy in Parie

the louvre.
it's so iconic.
amazing that it was once a palace, and yet a new palace was built because this one wasn't big enough.
honestly, what did they do that required so much space?

oh mona lisa.
"mona lisa, mona lisa, men have named you...."
you know the song?
anywho. ok, hold on to your seat, but i really didn't care much about ol' mona.
but then, when i was there and knew she was there, well i had to go see her.
and there she was...small and caged.
still amazing.
so i weaseled through the crowd to snap my photo.

all of the ceilings were so intricately painted.
it was marvelous.

and i had to snap a pic of one of the napoleon paintings.

now prepare yourselves.
this, this here, is a man nibbling on a nipple.
and so since we're like 12 and all, could not leave without a completely immature childish photo of it.
i embrace it.
haha.

most people say you could spend weeks in the louvre.
maybe something is wrong with us, but we may have had the quickest trip through the louvre known to man. we love art. like love it.
but we're not the art loving type that likes to sit, look, gaze and reflect on it. we like to look, say oh that's awesome, and keep going.
i've told you once, i'll tell you a million more times....we're special.
or as my great grandmother would say, we're "touched".

next, i'll tell you all about angelina and m'o.

Blogger Date Night!

as soon as i made the big move to texas, my cuz holli told me about a facebook group for DFW area bloggers.
of course i joined in the fun.
well last weekend we all had a meet up party at a paint party place called A Piece of Work.
so. much. fun.

it was so awesome to put faces with the blogs i follow.
i mean most of us have a picture of ourselves on the blog, but it's different when you actually meet them.

thanks ladies for posting some pics online - i borrowed a few ;)

here we are, just painting away. we were working hard at making grass!

look at all of us with our awesome masterpieces.
i'm convinced we were given one of the hardest paintings, but everyone's turned out great!
really!

holli - striking a pose. with wine. love it!

me and holli with our finished work. it's gonna be in galleries soon. people will pay big bucks for this.
watch out world.

ok totally kidding! but i was pretty proud of it!

After painting, we had some awesomely cute cupcakes for the ride home!

honestly, how precious are these cupcakes?

i'm so excited to have been a part of this little event and i can't wait until the next one!
ladies - you were all awesome!

a humongous thanks to the ladies (Sarah, Julie, and Taylor)  who hosted this sweet gathering!

Weekend Plans

Wow! It's Friday and there's so much to do this weekend! I think I'm babysitting tonight! That should be fun. I'm excited.
THEN, there's Saturday. Oh my goodness, Saturday is packed! I have school tomorrow morning until 2:00. Then I'm going to take some pre-prom pictures of a co-worker's son. Then off to Smith's Olde Bar to photograph one of our friends performing and Chris might play with him. Then of course there's Sunday. Since Chris works on staff, we're usually there from 8-12. I'll be taking a ton of pictures then too for a commercial we're putting together. Then lunch with friends, a quick nap, and back for the student ministry that evening. Voila. Weekend gone.
Isn't it something how we wait all week for the weekend so we can cram as much as possible into it and then complain b/c we didn't get any rest!
I'll definitely post some of the pictures from my busy days!
I was also hoping to decide on the paint colors for each room of our apartment. I'm going to post some picures of our apartment a little later because I need your help. I need to know what colors will match what's already there. AND there's a couple of colors I've just been dying to incorporate, so somehow I've got to make it all work. My brain is seriously on creative overload and I need someone to make some decisions for me.
THEN I'm stressed out because I really want to have my creative space ready for pictures for nect Tuesday's "This Is" post....but I just don't think I'll have it all together. Maybe I'll just make pictures of all the stuff in the closet! :)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
